Join us for a full day of pottery, creativity, and community as we celebrate the world of ceramics! Celebration in Clay is an exciting one-day event featuring hands-on activities, artist demos, a pottery competition, and a gallery sale showcasing the work of five talented clay artists from the Blue Ridge Potters Guild.

🎟️ Admission:

  • General Admission is Free or Pay-What-You-Can! We want everyone to enjoy the Celebration in Clay, so admission is entirely up to you. Pay what feels right—every contribution helps support the arts, but no one will be turned away.
  • Participation in the Raku & Pit firing, Lee Taylor's workshop, and the Celebration Throw Down competition requires additional fees. However, spectating these events is included with general admission. If you’d like to join any of these activities, please use the registration links below.

Event Highlights:

  • Gallery Show & Sale | 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
    Browse and purchase beautiful ceramic works in the Main Gallery by members of the Blue Ridge Potters Guild.

  • Raku & Pit Firing | 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
    Participate in exciting live firings on the Reynolds Building porch. Glazes, horsehair, and feathers provided for Raku firing—first come, first serve! If you bring your own pieces to fire, there is a $5 fee per piece. For more information and to sign up please follow this link: Raku & Pit Firing Registration

  • Clay Workshops
    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm – Lee Taylor: "Bottoms, Hips, and Lips: making pouring and drinking vessels" For more information and to sign up please follow this link: Lee Taylor Workshop Registration

  • Clay Demonstrations
    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm – Suzanne Poirer: "Slab Built Christmas Trees"
    • 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Ingrid Chase: "Making a Mug Two Ways"
    • 3:45 pm – 5:15 pm – Nell Frederickson: "Working with Closed Forms"
    • 3:45 pm – 5:15 pm – Susan Sherwin: "Sculpting a Gargoyle"

  • The Celebration Throw Down | 12:45 pm – 1:45 pm

  • Pottery Cleaning & Pick-Up Station | 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm
    Clean and collect your Raku and pit-fired pieces in the Clay Studio throughout the afternoon.
