Refine your wheel-throwing skills and explore new techniques in this 5-week intermediate pottery class. Spouts and Jugs focuses on altering thrown vessels through the addition of clay and hand shaping. Students will create large pitchers, teapots, and traditional Appalachian face jugs using both the pottery wheel and banding wheel. Along the way, you’ll also be introduced to basic slip-decorating techniques.
This class is designed for students who already know how to center and throw clay on the wheel. Perfect skills aren’t required, but a working knowledge of wheel fundamentals is necessary.
