Fused Glass Reactions

Tuition: $70, plus materials fee paid to instructor during class. Materials fee will vary based on the type of glass you use for your project. Coasters can cost from $5.00 to $7.00 each and the price of the square plate will depend on the size and glass that you choose. (You may bring your own Bullseye COE 90 Glass. If you choose to bring your own glass, please check the Bullseye Glass website for glass that reacts to one another.)
Ages: 16 to Adult
Prerequisite: Must have taken at least 1 Fused Glass Open Studio or Fused Glass Class
When certain glasses are fired in contact with one another, their chemistries interact to create magical surprises. They produce effects and colors different than what we might anticipate, given how colors normally mix.
This class will demonstrate many types of reactions that are possible and how they can create a unique addition to your glass designs. This class will also help you choose the appropriate glass combinations when designing a project to avoid a reaction as well.
Students will create four coasters with different reactions, and one small or medium sized square plate with a reaction of your choosing that can be slumped into one of our molds. We will fuse Bullseye Glass frit to make a river rock effect, Jade Green glass with Spring Green powder, French Vanilla glass with either Lt Cyan, Egyptian Blue, Turquoise, and Dense White frit. Petrified Wood, with Robin’s Egg Blue, a copper-bearing opalescent. When the two touch, they produce a one-of-a-kind red hue. There are many combinations to choose from -- join us for this class to discover the many possible reactions and combinations!
Please wear closed toe shoes for safety.
