Fused Glass Reactions

Tuition: $65, plus a $30 material fee, payable to instructor at first class

Ages: Adult

When certain glasses are fired in contact with one another, their chemistries interact to create
magical surprises. They produce effects and colors different than what we might anticipate,
given how colors normally mix.

This class will demonstrate three types of reactions that are possible and how they can create a
unique addition to your glass designs. Students will create either four coasters, or a simple
project of your choosing. We will fuse Bullseye Glass Petrified Wood, with Robin’s Egg Blue,
a copper-bearing opalescent. When the two touch, they produce a one-of-a-kind red hues.
French Vanilla, a sulfur bearing opalescent combines with Lt Cyan, Turquois Blue, or Jade
Green copper bearing frits, to create a unique reaction, and French Vanilla with Sunset Coral
powder frit combine to create a river rock effect.

*Some fused glass, and glass cutting experience is helpful, but not required. If you have not cut glass before, please notify the instructor or the school to make arrangements for a quick lesson.

*Patterns provided in class, or students may submit patterns for instructor approval, prior to
class.
